2014 Intro: D.J. Ursery

D.J. Ursery, a junior wing out of Southern California, has a few West Coast programs expressing interest in him...

D.J. Ursery, 6-3 JR SF/SG Encino (Calif.) Crespi, is somewhat of a sleeper in the 2014 class. A talented lefty with a versatile game, Ursery has been improved significantly in the last year and a few schools have taken notice.

"I've been hearing from UC Santa Barbara, Pepperdine and Northridge," said Ursery. "Northridge has offered."

I asked Ursery what he's looking for in a school.

"A family oriented school with a good education," said Ursery. "Someplace where I can shine. The location doesn't really matter. Early playing time isn't too big of a deal, but I would like to play as a sophomore."

Ursery has taken visits to Pepperdine and UCSB. I asked him for his thoughts on the visits.

"Pepperdine is a nice school with a nice campus and they like me a lot," said Ursery. "UCSB is also really nice and I think if I go there I could probably get playing time as a freshman."

Ursery said he could see himself making a relatively early decision.

"I think I'll probably decide by the end of July," said Ursery.
