Metu Hopes For Early Decision

Chimezie Metu, one of the better posts in the west for 2015, said he may make a fairly early decision with his college choice...

Chimezie Metu, 6-8 SO C Lawndale (Calif.) High, is a promising young post with a terrific body, good athleticism and excellent feet. He's a bit raw as a scorer right now, but he's got a chance to impact the game early in his career as a defender and rebounder, with the physical tools to eventually become a very good player.

I spoke with Metu at the Pangos Camp and asked him about the schools that have been recruiting him.

"Washington, USC, Cal, UConn, and San Diego State," said Metu.

I asked Metu which schools have offered.

"All of those schools have offered," said Metu.

Metu said he hopes to make a relatively early decision.

"I'll probably decide somewhat early so I can get it out of the way and focus on school," said Metu.

When asked if he has a feel for which schools have been recruiting him the hardest, Metu replied, "Washington, USC and Cal have been recruiting me the hardest."

I asked Metu if he has had any contact with the new staff at UCLA.

"Yes, I've been talking with Coach Grace, but they haven't offered," said Metu.

Metu said he has been on a couple unofficial visits.

"I went to UCLA when they had the old staff," said Metu. "I was at USC a couple weeks ago. I was supposed to go to Arizona, but that didn't happen."

I asked Metu about the issues that will be important to him when he chooses a school.

"It's mainly about where I fit in the best," said Metu. "And the education is big."

Metu said he has a 3.5 GPA.
