At 6-foot-4 and 185 pounds, Blanton can play almost anywhere on the perimeter and he showed that all spring long. Overall he was happy with his performance coming off of an injury.
"I think I played well," said Blanton of the spring. "I came back from a broken wrist and I think I made a good comeback and played well."
He continued, "I think my defense, my slashing ability, and my motor is what college coaches noticed about me."
In terms of recruiting, Blanton has numerous offers and two schools that standout.
"I have offers from Southern Miss, Florida State, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, College of Charleston, Mississippi State, Murray State, George Mason, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Ole Miss, Charlotte, Appalachian State, and Mercer," listed Blanton.
He then noted, "I have a real close relationship with Mississippi State and George Mason."
In fact plans are already in place for Blanton to visit both Mississippi State and George Mason.
"I will visit Mississippi State on June 10 and then on June 16 I will be visiting George Mason," said Blanton. "I hope I can take a few more visits after the July period."
When it comes to Mississippi State, Blanton has already built a close relationship with the coaching staff.
"I have a real close relationship with them," said Blanton. "Coach (Rick) Ray the head coach and Coach Wes Flanigan they call me a lot and stay in touch. We just have a real close relationship."
One school expected to make a push is Florida State. The Seminoles have already offered and recently hired assistant coach Charlton Young who was recruiting Blanton as the head coach at Georgia Southern.
"Florida State, they called me and talked to me for a while and said he was offering me a scholarship," said Blanton. "That was big time right there because it is an ACC school."
For now Blanton is taking his time and wants to gain as much information as possible before coming to a final college decision.
