2016 Intro: Trevor Stanback

Trevor Stanback, a talented freshman post from Southern California, gives us some early thoughts on his recruitment...

Trevor Stanback, 6-9 FR C West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade, is one of the top prospects in the west for 2016. While he's obviously still very young, and his body is nowhere close to maturity, Stanback has a solid skill set for a young big. He's comfortable with his back to the basket, he's got a nice feel for the game and he's a good shot-blocker. With continued development he has a chance to be among the elite prospects in the class of 2016.

I spoke with Stanback recently and asked about the schools that have been recruiting him to date.

"USC, Gonzaga, UConn, UCLA and UNLV have been the main ones," said Stanback. "USC, UConn and UNLV have offered."

Stanback's big brother Chace played at UCLA for a year before transferring to UNLV and I asked him for his thoughts on the Bruins.

"I'm open to UCLA," said Stanback. "They have a good program, it's close to home and my family can see me play."

Stanback said he has a couple visits planned for the summer.

"I'm planning on visiting USC this summer and also UC Santa Barbara," said Stanback.

I asked Stanback about the issues that will important when it comes time for him to choose a school.

"A good education and a good coach," said Stanback. "I'd like to play early, but if I don't get much time early I'll just keep working. As far as the location, that doesn't really matter too much."

When asked if he had a dream school growing up, Stanback replied, "Duke or North Carolina."

Stanback said he's in no hurry to make an early decision.

"I'll probably wait until my senior year," said Stanback.

Stanback said he has a 3.7 GPA.
