Multiple Offers For Benson

Casey Benson, one of the top point guards in the west for 2014, gives us an update on his recruitment...

Casey Benson, 6-3 SR PG Tempe (Ariz.) Corona Del Sol, is a talented playmaker with a very good feel for the game. While he's not a particularly explosive athlete, Benson is a true point guard with a good stroke and very good ball skills overall.

I spoke with Benson recently and asked about the schools that are recruiting him.

"Oregon, Creighton, Stanford, St. Mary's, New Mexico, Nebraska and Boise State have been the main ones," said Benson.

I asked Benson which schools have offered.

"They've all offered except for Stanford," said Benson. "I took the SAT for the second time trying to raise my score to see if Stanford might be an option."

Benson has already taken several unofficial visits.

"I've been to Stanford, Oregon, St. Mary's and Boise State," said Benson. "And I'll be visiting Creighton this month."

I asked Benson what he's looking for in a school.

"Just the right fit overall," said Benson. "The style of play, the coaching staff and the players. I want to see how I mesh with the players that are already there."

Benson said he's not sure about a time frame for picking a school.

"I don't have a time frame right now," said Benson. "There will come a time when I feel ready to decide. But I do think I'll get it done by the early signing period."
