Robert Cartwright, 6-2 SR PG La Canada (Calif.) Flintridge Prep, is one of the elite point guards in the West Coast class of 2014. A true point with an outstanding feel for the game, Cartwright has above average ball skills and he's one of the best on-ball defenders in the class.

I spoke with Cartwright recently and asked him about the status of his recruitment.

"I've got about 20 offers so far," said Cartwright. "Some of schools that have been on me consistently are Stanford, Harvard, San Diego, Rice, George Washington, Bucknell, UC Davis, Princeton, Utah, Oregon State, Colorado and Lehigh," said Cartwright. "I've been hearing from USC and Gonzaga, but they haven't offered yet."

With local school UCLA in the market for a point guard, I asked Cartwright if he has heard from the Bruins.

"I had a conversation with Coach Grace," said Cartwright. "It was a nice conversation, but nothing serious. It was just an initial call and I think they're waiting to see what happens with other guys. He said they had seen me, and were impressed, and they'll watch me in July."

Cartwright said he recently took a visit to USC.

"I went there in the beginning of June," said Cartwright. "It's a nice school and Coach Enfield seems like a very nice guy. Coach Bland and Hart are good guys and it seems like they have a great thing going there. They've got a nice facility and a nice campus."

With so many schools on his list, I asked Cartwright if he has a time frame for cutting down his list.

"I'll probably narrow things down after the summer," said Cartwright. "I want to play through July and see where schools are after the evaluation period. I don't want to cut anyone out yet before I get a chance to see how things stand and where other players are going. In August I'll probably start to get really serious about cutting things down."
