One visit set for Gant

Things are picking up for four-star Jakeenan Gant who has one visit set up already.

Four-star forward Jakeenan Gant missed some time this spring with an ankle injury, but he should be back on the floor soon. The 6-foot-8 prospect is one of the most versatile power forwards in the country, and one SEC school is getting ready for him to make an official visit.

Gant decided to sit out the NBPA Top 100 Camp with an injury, but he says that he is not too far from making his return to the floor.

"I haven't been playing because of my ankle so I have just been doing a little bit of skill stuff," said Gant. "I should be able to play in July though."

Recruiting wise a whole host of schools are continuing to show significant interest in the Springfield (Ga) Effingham Co. standout.

"I have been talking to Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Florida, North Carolina State, and Georgia Tech those are the main ones," said Gant.

Gant has a visit set up to Alabama on June 29, and he says he is looking forward to seeing the school.

"I have a good relationship with the coaches especially Coach (John) Brannen and Coach (Anthony) Grant," said Gant. "They seem like good guys it should be a fun visit."

Recently Florida State hired assistant Charlton Young who recruited Gant very hard at Georgia Southern, and Gant says Young is continuing that with the Seminoles.

"He has been texting me every day telling me to come there," said Gant of Florida State. "I haven't been on a visit there yet, but they are a good school."

For now Gant has no other visits set up besides Alabama, but he plans to take his time and see all of options.

In terms of what he is looking for in a school, Gant said, "I am just looking for a school that runs and a school that can develop me as a player."
