For the 6-foot-7 and 280 pound Swanigan, it was an honor to be a 2016 prospect at the NBPA Camp, and he wanted to show he belonged.
"It is challenging being here and trying to prove yourself, but to finally get here is an achievement," said Swanigan. "You want to soak up the moment but at the same time continue to work hard."
Over the last few years Swanigan has worked very hard to improve his body and continue to get in better shape, he says it has just been basic hard work.
"I am just working out, running, watching what I eat, it is nothing tricky," said Swanigan. "It is just basic working out and losing weight."
Already a handful of schools are showing Swanigan attention on the recruiting trail.
At the Michigan Camp Swanigan didn't get to see a ton, but he did get to familiarize himself with the campus.
"I thought the camp was good," said Swanigan. "We got to see the facilities but that was about it because of the rules."
Swanigan will next participate at the Purdue team camp with his high school team before again ramping things up with Spiece Indy Heat during the month of July.
Also given his size, strength, and athleticism, Swanigan is an excellent football prospect. While he makes it clear he loves basketball, Swanigan has no intention of giving up football.
"I plan on playing football the rest of my high school career," said Swanigan. "I don't know which sport I will choose, we will just see what happens."
