No favorites for Newton

Things continue to be busy for Ja'Quan Newton on the recruiting trail, but the four-star guard says he has no favorites in his recruitment.

Four-star guard JaQuan Newton had an excellent showing at the NBPA Top 100 Camp. The 6-foot-3 combo guard turned up his game down the stretch of camp, and he continues to have a long list of schools showing him attention.

One thing that Newton did at the NBPA Top 100 Camp was make some outside shots. That isn't exactly the scouting report on Newton, but he says he has been working hard to be more of a complete player and outside shooter.

"It feels good to make shots," said Newton. "It gives me a lot of confidence. People say I struggle with my jump shot, but I have been working on it a lot and seeing a few go in gives me confidence."

Recruiting a lot of programs continue to be in close contact with Newton.

"Miami, Cincinnati, Xavier, Penn State, Georgetown, Seton Hall, SMU, USC, Minnesota, Temple, Villanova, La Salle are recruiting me," said Newton.

He continued, "I would say Minnesota, USC, Seton Hall, Miami, Villanova, and Temple are recruiting me the hardest."

The only school so far that Newton has had a chance to visit is Villanova, and he says it is a very nice school.

"I like Villanova a lot," noted Newton. "I like the coaching staff and I also like their facility."

For now Newton plans to play out the summer with Team Final and then will figure out some official visits before coming to a decision. When it is time to make a commitment, Newton knows what will be important to him in a school.

"As I look into a school I evaluate who they have, what year is their starting point guard, and who they have coming in because I want to play with great players," said Newton.
