Sheffield talks offers

Three offers recently came in for Marcus Sheffield who is one of the fastest rising prospects in the class of 2015.

Maybe the fastest rising prospect in the state of Georgia in the class of 2015 is Marcus Sheffield. The Game Elite wing has grown, gotten stronger, more confident, and now his game is really coming together. With that several schools have recently offered.

It wasn't long ago that Sheffield's only offer was from Samford. Now the 6-foot-5 and 170 pound wing boasts a trio of other offers. Sheffield says this process has been exciting.

"It has been really exciting," said Sheffield. "I have liked it a lot."

In terms of offers, three schools, all that Sheffield visited during June, came forward with scholarships.

"I got offers from Clemson, Xavier, and VCU after they saw me in the first July period," said Sheffield.

He continued, "I am just playing hard, making shots, and playing defense. I think that is what all of the coaches are seeing from me."

Clemson being in the ACC is a big offer for Sheffield, and he was very happy to get it. Head Coach Brad Brownell made sure to watch him quite a bit in Atlanta.

"It meant a lot to get an offer from Clemson," said Sheffield. "It proved that I know what I am doing, but I know I have to keep working hard."

With Xavier, Sheffield had a good unofficial visit there, and was happy to get the offer.

"I was just real happy when they offered," said Sheffield. "I like them a lot, and I liked it there when I visited."

Also VCU has made an impression on Sheffield with their style of play and they made sure to offer a scholarship as well.

"VCU is the same," said Sheffield. "I really like them and I was happy to get the offer. They are a really exciting school."

For Sheffield the rest of the July is pretty simple.

"Just I want to play as hard as I can and keep getting scholarship offers," he said.

Sheffield currently is seen as a three-star prospect and the No. 18 small forward. He is someone who will definitely be in contention for four-star and top 100 status when things are updated at the end of July.
