Robinson set to take visits

Alex Robinson, one of the top available point guards in the 2014 class, will take a couple of visits this week and has schedule an official visit for Texas A&M.

As the spring and summer wore on, Alex Robinson, a 6-foot-1 point guard out of Arlington (Tex.) Mansfield Timberview, continued to show improvements.

Last year he was relied on to score the basketball. This time around playing for the Texas Titans, Robinson showed an ability to run a team. He sees the floor well, is a talented passer and finds ways to get into the paint.

"I felt like every tournament I was getting better," Robinson told

Robinson described his game as a pure point that's also capable of scoring when he needs to.

"Just leading and running a team," Robinson responded when asked what he does the best. "I get people involved and I think I'm really good at pick and roll. I can get my teammates shots or get my own shot."

On the recruiting front things have certainly picked up for Robinson. He currently holds scholarship offers from Minnesota, Florida State, Vanderbilt, Memphis, Texas A&M and Pittsburgh. Kansas has also called on Robinson.

"I'm going on an unofficial visit to Vanderbilt on Tuesday," Robinson said. "From Vanderbilt I'm going to Memphis on an unofficial."

Robinson has also scheduled an official visit to Texas A&M when their football team faces off against Alabama the weekend of September 14th. Robinson took an official visit to Pittsburgh prior to the July evaluation periods.

"Depending on if I like Memphis and Vanderbilt will depend if I take an official down there," he added.

Florida State is in the process of planning an in-home visit with Robinson.

"We are just keeping in contact," he said about Florida State. "We'll probably schedule an unofficial there once I get back from Vandy and Memphis."

Have any head coaches developed strong relationships with Robinson?

"I would say coach [Billy] Kennedy and coach [Jamie] Dixon," he said. "We've talked a lot. Coach [Leonard] Hamilton has been hitting me up more recently and our relationship is getting better. I talked the Memphis head coach and we've developed a good relationship as well."

At this point, Robinson doesn't have a timetable for his college choice, but he doesn't plan to let his recruitment drag on.

"I don't want to wait too long," he said. "When I get done with my visits and I'll know where I want to go."
