Blackmon de-commits from Indiana

One of the country's best shooters is back on the board.

Outstanding marksman James Blackmon, a long-time Indiana pledge, has backed off his commitment and is making himself available to other programs.

Blackmon became one of Tom Crean's signature recruits back in 2010, and the timing simply left the family anxious with signing day now just a couple months away.

"We just had nothing to compare Indiana to," Blackmon's father, James Sr. said, "and after talking things over as a family we decided we needed something to compare Indiana to, so we reopened the recruitment."

Major programs undoubtedly will knock down the door in an effort to become involved. Blackmon's summer included a sensational series of performances at July's Global Challenge, where he starred among the best players on the Nike circuit.

Given that his situation will intensify immediately and dramatically, there's no immediate plan of action set to take effect.

"In terms of what's next, we're just gonna let the process play out," Blackmon Sr. said. "There is no decision on signing early or going through his senior season."

Blackmon is a national-level prospect and had been the Hoosiers' only pledge thus far from the Class of 2014.
