Stock is on rise for Kelly

A strong July has led to high-major schools calling on Rashard Kelly.

Sometimes it takes kids a little bit longer to get everything figured out, and one player that seems to be the case for is Rashard Kelly. Not going into the summer with a whole lot of interest, Kelly was excellent for DC Assault, and now his stock is really on the rise.

An athletic 6-foot-6 wing, Kelly made major improvements, and he feels it was his style of play that coaches liked the most.

"I would have to say I gave a lot of energy and effort every game and every play," Kelly explained. "I think coaches really liked my energy."

Right now on the recruiting trail one school is clearly showing Kelly the most interest.

"I would definitely have to say Wichita State is the most interested right now," said Kelly. "I talk to somebody on their staff daily, either the head coach or one of the assistants, so they have really been in contact."

While the Shockers are showing the most interest at the moment, some other schools are really picking things up with him as well.

"Also I am hearing from Cincinnati a lot, Minnesota, and Marshall," noted Kelly. "Along with Wichita State those are three schools that I have been hearing lot from lately. There are a lot of other schools, but not as consistently as those I mentioned."

At this point no official visits are set up for Kelly, but he plans to take several of them.

When on the visits and when he talks to coaches, one factor above all others is going to standout to Kelly.

"Opportunity to play right away is the biggest factor," said Kelly. "I want to go somewhere where I can play a lot. I don't want to go somewhere that in the first or second year I can only get limited minutes. I want to be able to contribute right away."
