Jamal Aytes' college choice is in. The talented power forward out of California committed to UNLV on Monday.

Jamal Aytes committed to UNLV on Monday.

Aytes, who played at San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) J Serra, began building his reputation as a high major prospect in the spring playing for Dream Vision.

A 2013 recruit, Aytes drew interest from the likes of Arizona, West Virginia, Gonzaga, BYU and others. In the end, Aytes settled on Dave Rice and UNLV.

"I'm officially a UNLV Runnin' Rebel now," Aytes tweeted.

At 6-foot-6, Aytes plays in the post. He has a strong, chiseled frame and plays a tough brand of ball in the paint. Aytes can score in a variety of ways on the block, is a good rebounder and is also capable of facing up for mid-range jumpers.

Aytes joins four-star Christian Wood, three-star guard Kendall Smith and transfer Jalen Kendrick to make up their incoming 2013 class.
