Blanton sees opportunity at South Carolina

Temarcus Blanton informed that he will play his college basketball at South Carolina. He pledged to the Gamecocks on Sunday.

Temarcus Blanton saw opportunity at South Carolina. So during his official visit to the school this weekend the 6-foot-4 wing out of Locust Grove (Ga.) Luella pledged to Frank Martin and his staff.

"The atmosphere, support, great relationship with the coaches and the work outs really caught my attention to," Blanton said when asked about his college choice. "There's just a lot of opportunity there."

"I feel like if I go there and I work hard I can make an impact," he added. "Also if basketball doesn't take me far, they have my field, sports management or sports broadcasting."

Blanton,'s No. 25 small forward in the 2014 class, had cut his list of schools down to Auburn, George Mason, Florida State, Arkansas and College of Charleston.

"I think I kind of had an idea that I wanted to go there," Blanton said. "I just wanted to experience it first before I was going to decide. After the visit I knew that was it."

Blanton joins three-star guard Marcus Stroman to make up South Carolina's current 2014 recruiting class.
