1. After a period of relative dormancy, elite guard Rashad Vaughn has set up a pair of official visits. He'll travel to North Carolina late this month and to Baylor in October. At one time the Tar Heels had been considered his leader, but lately the Bears and perhaps others have appeared to make headway.
In fact, during the summer UNC appeared to be fading, but the Tar Heels now will get their crack on an official trip. Meanwhile, UNLV — now Vaughn's hometown school, given that he transferred to Findlay Prep for his senior season — is making a strong push and recently hosted him for an unofficial.
2. Reid Travis cut his list to seven programs and will continue to cull as he sorts through his remaining visits. The finalists include Stanford, Duke, Notre Dame, Minnesota, Gonzaga, Michigan State and Georgetown. He's tackling numerous in-home visits this week and will proceed from there.
3. Speaking of in-homes, blue-chip forward Devin Robinson's meeting with Oklahoma State is set for today, followed by Indiana on Tuesday and Notre Dame (9/16), UConn (9/17) and Florida (9/18) to follow. He's embarking upon a very aggressive mission to learn everything he can — via both official visits and in-homes — about his finalists prior to making a decision.
4. According to WeAreDePaul.com, Ronnie Harrell narrowed his list to Purdue (which will host him this weekend for the Notre Dame football game), Creighton, DePaul, Kansas State, Loyola-Marymount and Wyoming. Harrell is a talented, very thin scorer who enhanced his stock after an impressive summer.
