Maley Has Academic Schools Lining Up

Jim Maley, a 6-6 shooter from Western Springs (IL) Lyons Township understood what it means to play with 200 different guys all wanting to show college recruiters what they can do. So, realizing his chances to let it fly were slim once he passed, Maley let it rip from downtown and caught the attention of some fine schools in the process.

Maley Looking At Five

If you are 6-6 and can stroke it, you'll get noticed. If you are 6-6, can stroke it and have great grades, your stock increases exponentially. Meet Jim Maley.

The 6-6/165 pounder from Western Springs, Ill., first made a name for himself at the Nike All-American Camp. Now, schools are coming after him. He's down to five: Stanford, Penn State, Xavier, Rice and Davidson. Xavier and Davidson could be close to offering if they already haven't.

"It's pretty new for me," Maley said. "Just from the summer where it all started. Basically, I want to get the best combination of basketball and academics."

Knowing that he might need a decent summer to kick-start his recruitment, Maley tried not to waste any opportunities that Nike Camp afforded him. So, he let it rip from downtown and took aim. "That's what I did at Nike Camp. I shot a lot of 3s. I usually don't shoot that much. I figured if I was going to get the ball I was going to shoot."
