Martin Taking Visits

Josh Martin, a senior power forward from Washington, has four schools involved in his recruitment and he has an official visit upcoming this weekend...

Josh Martin, 6-7 SR PF Bothell (Wash.) High, is one of the better post prospects still available in the West Coast class of 2014 and we caught up with him recently.

"The main schools right now are Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Florida State," said Martin. "I've also been hearing recently from the staff at UCLA. I was getting recruited previously by Coach Howland and now the new staff is picking it back up again with me."

I asked Martin what the Bruin staff has been telling him.

"They want me to visit and see the campus," said Martin. "They haven't offered yet, but I'm assuming that they are close and may offer in the next few days. I've been talking with Coach Broussard mainly and he said they want me to visit around the beginning of October."

I asked Martin for his impression of the Bruin staff.

"I don't really know them too well, but I did watch a few New Mexico games last year and thought they did well," said Martin. "They have a great tradition there and I'd really like to hear how I would fit into their system and what they could do to help me get to the next level."

Martin visited Florida State last weekend and I asked him how that visit went.

"It went really well," said Martin. "I got a much better idea of how they'd use me and how I'd fit into their system.

Martin said he had Minnesota head coach Richard Pitino in for an in-home visit on Tuesday.

"The in-home went really well with Coach Pitino," said Martin. "I'm going to be visiting Minnesota this weekend. I go to Pittsburgh for a visit in two weeks."

I asked Martin if any school stands out for him at this time.

"Probably Florida State, but that's because it's the only school I've visited," said Martin. "So I have a better feel for them right now than any other school."

When asked if he plans on signing in the fall, Martin replied, "Yes, I would like to sign in the fall. I want to get it done before my senior season starts. But if it doesn't work out where I'm sure, then I might wait until later. I want to be sure and not make a decision that I'm not sure about later."
