Washington Has A Leader

Josh Washington's "How I Spent My Summer" essay should be interesting. All he did was help Team Texas to a pair of major AAU championships. If you remember, he was one of those guys we said to look for on the summer scene this year. Well, we didn't predict so many titles, but thought his recruitment might escalate and it certainly has. In fact, he has a leader.

Washington Favors Texas Tech

Can Bob Knight get one to stay home this year? Sure he can.

Lubbock (TX) Monterey's Josh Washington, a shooting guard, currently favors Texas Tech. "Tech's been in my heart ever since Coach Knight came here," Washington said. "I obviously like staying at home. It can't get much better than that.

"[The recruiting is] going pretty good. Tech is still No.1 but I want to take some visits to make sure."

Washington says he has firm scholarship offers from Tennessee, Arkansas, Ohio State and New Mexico. Not at bad summer at the office.

Washington was one of a number of kids who stepped up to help Bracey Wright in delivering a pair of titles – Peach Jam, SuperShowcase – to Team Texas.

"It was cool. It was nice. I got that big gold medal hanging up in my room."
