For the second time in this class, Collins stayed local, reeling in a commitment from Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick standout Scott Lindsey. Illinois Old School coach Scott Lidskin confirmed the commitment news to Scout.com.
"He has liked Northwestern," Lidskin told Scout.com. "He went on an unofficial there in late May and beginning of June. He was very interested in coach Collins. Coming from Duke and with that background. He's gotten off to a pretty good start with his recruiting class. He's had a few really good players commit there."
Northwestern fended off Iowa, who he visited twice, Vanderbilt and Nevada. All three schools had offered Lindsey a scholarship. Lidskin said the opportunity to play at home for an upcoming coach played a role in Lindsey's decision making.
"He was telling Scott the backcourt in a few a years would look really good if he came there with Vic Law and Bryant McIntosh," Lidskin said. "Scott was really intrigued by the aspect of playing with the guys, playing at home, playing for coach Collins and playing in the Big Ten."
To go with the pledges from Lindsey, Law and McIntosh, Northwestern also holds a pledge from 6-foot-9 big man Gavin Skelly.
