Bentil pulls the trigger

Ben Bentil's college choice is in. He committed to Ed Cooley and Providence on Monday.

Providence picked up their third top 100 commitment Monday afternoon with's No. 83 player Ben Bentil pledged to Ed Cooley and his staff at Providence.

Bentil's high school coach Terrell Myers confirmed the news to

"It came down to having an opportunity to step in and play right away," Myers told "We believe it's about timing and with the recent additions at Providence I think they are a program on the way up."

"The staff did a great job recruiting him and spent a lot of time explaining what Providence is all about," he added. "I think he liked the family atmosphere and basketball is very important to that community. The development that Ed has shown as a coach and in previous of years was important.

A host of schools showed interest in Bentil throughout the process, but ultimately Temple and St. Joseph ended up being Providence's biggest competition. He visited both schools.

Cooley has put together a heck of a 2014 recruiting class. Bentil joins No. 63 overall prospect Paschal Chukwu and's No. 81 prospect Jalen Lindsey.
