Martin finds fit at Minnesota

After narrowing his list of schools to four and taking visits, Josh Martin settled on his decision on Monday. He plans to play in the B1G.

Richard Pitino picked up a verbal pledge from Josh Martin Monday afternoon.

Martin, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound power forward out of Bothell (Wash.) High, picked Minnesota over Florida State, Oklahoma State and Pittsburgh. He also took visits to Florida State and Pittsburgh.

So what is Minnesota getting in Martin? Recruiting Analyst Josh Gershon says he can help them by way of rebounding.

"Martin is a big, strong post who has with a thick build and plays pretty hard," he said. "His best attribute is by far his rebounding; he rebounds very well in and out of his area."

"Offensively he'll try to finish above the rim when he gets the ball in the paint, and can step out and shoot a 16-footer. His size, strength and athleticism give him tools to work with."

Martin, a three-star recruit, is Minnesota's first pledge of the 2014 recruiting class.
