O'Mara talks Xavier decision

Three-star center Sean O'Mara is now off the board and the Chicago area prospect will play in the Big East.

The Xavier Musketeers continue to reel in top targets in this class of 2014. The latest player to pick the Big East school is three-star center Sean O'Mara. On Tuesday night the Lisle (Ill.) Benet Academy big man picked the school.

At 6-foot-8 and 235 pounds, O'Mara is a bit of a throwback player. He is a center who plays as a center. O'Mara thrives on the low block and is one of the best passers in the country from the low post.

Xavier made him a priority for a while, and he picked the Musketeers over offers from Wichita State and the hometown school Loyola.

"My relationship with the coaching staff is great," said O'Mara of Xavier. "I was down there with Makinde London for my official visit and everybody hit it off. From the coaching staff to the families I felt it was a really good place for me."

He continued, "Also I have a great opportunity to play. They have a really good center in Matt Stainbrook who will be a senior when I get there. I can learn from him for a year and then be prepared for the monster conference they are in. Also they have a really good history for bigs and it is the best place for me."

This is Xavier's fourth commitment in the class. O'Mara joins three-star shooting guard Edmond Sumner along with four-star power forward Makinde London and four-star small forward J.P. Macura.
