Kelly pledges to Wichita State

Rashad Kelly made his college decision Thursday morning. He's headed to Wichita State.

Wichita State was in need of a power forward in their 2014 class and on Thursday they reeled in one that can help them.

Rashard Kelly, a 6-foot-6 energetic power forward out of Chatham (Va.) Hargrave, pledged to Wichita State over strong interest from George Washington, George Mason, Old Dominion, Xavier, Cincinnati and a host of other schools.

"I'm finally apart of Shocker nation," Kelly told

"I've been smiling since I decided what I was going to do," Kelly added. I'm just really happy.

So why Wichita State?

"The big thing with me is I like family," Kelly said. "When I went on my visit they felt like family and I felt like I was at home and just down the street."

"For a couple guys I just met and when I went out there and met them on my official visit, we clicked from day one," he added."

Kelly, who ran with DC Assault during the spring and summer, is a tough hard-nosed post player that rebounds in and out of his area. He thinks their style fits him perfectly.

"Their motto is play angry," Kell said. "That's just how I like to play. No matter who it is, I'm going to go at you."
