Cowboys lasso in-state big

This weekend has been slower for commitments thus far than what we'd observed previously this fall, but not everyone sat on their laurels.

Mitch Solomon committed to Oklahoma State over Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Tulsa and others. The 6-9, 225-pound big man raised his stock at the Great American Shootout this past July, where he utilized his solid frame and hard-nosed mentality to make things happen inside. He performed so well that he played his way to the No. 81 ranking in the Class of 2014.

While not an elite athlete, Solomon does possess burgeoning skills and should develop into a fine four-year contributor for Travis Ford's program. Uncommitted big men are becoming extremely scarce, and the Big 12 — which has recruited poorly overall in the current cycle — has needed some good news.

Solomon joins Jared Terrell to give OSU two top-100 pledges. While some other league members are flailing to assemble their rosters, Ford's program appears to be in very healthy condition moving forward.
