Williams Focuses On Three

Deron Williams is starting to get serious about his recruitment. He's narrowed his focus to three schools and already has his in-home and official visit dates set. He's prepared to go through the visitation process and in a year when seeing campuses seems to be less of a concern for prospects, Williams wants to take a look around.

Three In-Home, Three Officials For Williams

How about this for a backcourt? Deron Williams at the point, playing alongside trusty rifleman Bracey Wright? Not too shabby, huh? That's exactly what The Colony's opponents will have to deal with this season.

Williams has proven himself to be one of the most steady playmakers in the Class of 2002. He helped orchestrate a Fort Worth Lions upset of the Long Island Panthers, the eventual champions, the first day of the Las Vegas Big Time.

Now, Williams is orchestrating his recruiting calendar. He has three schools in mind – Illinois, Tennessee and Georgia Tech – and he's going to visit and be visited by each.

His official visit slate puts him in Knoxville Sept. 1, Champaign on the 15th and finally in Atlanta on Sept. 22. Neat and tidy, he'll see all three campuses he needs to in a span of four weeks. In between trips, he'll play host to Tennessee on the 9th, Illinois and the 11th and Tech on the 12th.

"I just have to go and see what school and environment are like," Williams said. "I'm pretty much going to take all [three of] my visits. Illinois and Georgia Tech were always my leaders, but I want to go in with them all equal and see which one I like the best."

Williams said making the call to narrow his focus was pretty easy. "Those schools have always been on my list and they are the ones I'm more familiar with."
