Lydon gives early pledge

Tyler Lydon, a 2015 recruit, gave an early commitment to Syracuse on Thursday.

Syracuse was able to get their 2014 class off to an early start when Chris McCullough committed as a junior. Now they are getting their 2015 class off to a similar start.

On Thursday, Tyler Lydon, a 6-foot-9 versatile forward, committed to Syracuse, according to New Hampton (N.H.) Prep coach Pete Hutchins.

"I think just growing up being where he's from he's always loved Syracuse," Hutchins told Scout.com. "I also think it's a natural fit as well."

Florida, Virginia, Boston College, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Iowa, Duke North Carolina and Kansas were showing interest, but Syracuse was Lydon's childhood favorite and that played a major factor in this recruitment.

"In reality it's close to home and that's where he wanted to be," Hutchins said. "It's make sense and that's where his heart was."

A 6-foot-9 forward, Lydon is mobile, has an impressive skill set and is a good shooter out to the three-point stripe.

"He possesses one talent that a lot of big people don't have and that's the ability to compete consistently," Hutchins said. "He's committed to getting better. He's just incredibly skilled.

Lydon, Scout.com's No. 94 overall recruit, is Syracuse's first verbal pledge of the 2015 class.
