Giles recaps UK visit, plans UNC trip

Harry Giles,'s top prospect in the 2016 class, took an unofficial visit to Kentucky this past weekend. He recapped that trip and informed that he's planning another visit.

Kentucky uses their Big Blue Madness festivities to bring in their top targets. This year they had a number of key 2014 recruits in town, but they also brought in's top 2016 recruit – Harry Giles.

Giles' unofficial visit to Kentucky began Friday afternoon at 3:00 ET and he left Lexington early Saturday morning.

"It was a lot of fun," Giles said. "Coach [John] Calipari always gives you good word and good advice and tells you how he feels about you. The fans, BBN those fans are crazy. The kids to the elderly, they are all crazy and they all love you just as much. They show you a lot of love."

"While I was there I got to visit practice," he said. "They showed me the dorms and the cafeteria. A lot of the players saw where they go to class, they didn't show me that but they pointed it out. Then they showed me around the practices facility. I didn't do too much, but I looked around."

While at Kentucky, Giles, a 6-foot-10, 205-pound forward, met with Calipari.

"He told me how he much he wanted me and how he was excited for me to be there and how the night was going to be and the future and to just keep working hard on my rehab and school," Giles said.

Did the visit live up to expectations for Giles?

"It was better than I thought it was going to be," he said. "It lived up to expectations. I heard 24,000 was a lot and you always see the midnight madness stuff, so it was pretty cool to see that. I really liked it a lot. I liked them before and I hadn't been there yet. It lived up to expectations, probably a little bit more. I liked it a lot."

Next up for Giles is a probable visit to North Carolina this Friday for their Late Night with Roy festivities.

"Yeah I think I'll probably go," Giles said.

"It's a great school with a great coach," he added about UNC. "Coach Williams is a great coach. A lot of great players have come out of there like Michael Jordan. Carolina is a Carolina. It's always a good school."

Giles currently holds scholarship offers from UK, UNC, Duke, Ohio State, Georgetown, North Carolina State, Wake Forest and South Carolina. He's also looking to visit some other ACC schools.

"I plan to attend Duke some this year and go to a couple of games for sure and probably N.C. State and Wake Forest too," he added.

Just a sophomore, Giles said he's still in the beginning stages of his recruiting process.

"I haven't really given it a thought," he said. "I've given it a thought I guess, but not much. You think about it from time to time."
