Update On Oguine

Michael Oguine, a talented junior point guard out of Southern Californial, is in no hurry to make his college choice...

Michael Oguine, 6-0 JR PG West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade, is one of the top PG prospects in the West Coast class of 2015. I spoke with Oguine recently and asked about the schools that have been recruiting him to date.

"I'm hearing from Harvard, Santa Clara, UConn, Penn, Cal Poly, American, Cornell, Boise State and Santa Clara," said Oguine. "Santa Clara has offered."

I asked Oguine if he has a sense of which schools are recruiting him the hardest.

"Harvard and Santa Clara are recruiting me the hardest right now," said Oguine.

Oguine talked a little about the factors that will be important to him when it comes time to choose a school.

"Playing time, an up-tempo style, a team that pressures the ball and defends, and a program on the rise," said Oguine.

When asked if location is an issue with him, Oguine replied, "I grew up liking the local schools USC and UCLA, but location isn't really too big of an issue."

When asked if he has taken any unofficial visits yet, Oguine said, "No, I haven't taken any yet. But I'll probably go to Harvard in December during the break."

I asked Oguine if he has a time frame in mind for picking a school.

"No, I don't really have a time frame," said Oguine. "I want to take my time and make sure. I don't want to commit somewhere and then change my mind. I want to make sure it's a final decision."

Oguine said he currently has a 3.8 GPA.
