Kirk's game and name blossoming

For a few minutes at this past weekend's Phenom Top 150 Camp, Kirk looked like he might steal the show.

With some players, you can take a quick look at them and know immediately that they're athletes. Shaun Kirk is one such player, as he is gifted with a slender, lithe physique and long arms. He proves that inkling correct very quickly, and his de facto dunk contest during one game at the event added emphatic punctuation.

Kirk is a reclassified sophomore who appears to be using the extra time wisely. He'll be a prominent member of a strong in-state crop, and his athleticism and wing height (6-6) make him a no-brainer for high-major attention.

It's very early, but already he's getting looks from powerful programs.

"(N.C.) State, Carolina, Clemson, Kansas State, VCU, Georgia and Seton Hall are some of the schools (on my list)," Kirk said. "VCU has offered me."

Kirk recently attended Midnight Madness festivities in Raleigh and Chapel Hill, noting that both unofficial visits were "a great time" and that he intends to watch the schools on his list very closely this season.

He also has a few ideas in mind for what he wants in his eventual choice.

"Obviously, it's about the best fit," Kirk said. "I'm trying to be a pro (laughs), so that's the number one thing to think about."

Kirk previously competed for the Carolina Raptors, but he'll tour the 2014 travel circuit with Team United.
