Things didn't come to Devin Robinson early when it comes to recruiting. For the most part Robinson was under the radar early in his high school career before beginning to really breakout as an older prospect. Starting at the 2012 Reebok Breakout Camp Robinson found himself on the high-major radar before completely exploding starting in April of 2013.
Early on schools such as Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Richmond, Cincinnati, Xavier, Auburn, Miami, and Virginia Commonwealth were on Robinson. However that list really exploded and that led to a host of schools making a strong run.
As things began to move along, Notre Dame was seen as strong, then Oklahoma State, and finally Indiana and Florida. In fact it seems that his final two, though never announced, were the Gators and Hoosiers.
During this process Robinson and his family stayed completely under the radar not granting any media interviews. Still he maintained a high profile because of his play.
What separates Robinson from so many other prospects is his versatility. At 6-foot-8 and roughly 200 pounds, there is so much that Robinson is capable of doing on the floor. He is that new age hybrid forward who is comfortable on the perimeter but can also hold his own in the mid-range.
Robinson fancies himself as a pure wing, but he isn't quite there yet. Now in time, heck even by the time he gets to a college campus, he could be a full time wing, but for now he is a combo forward.
Robinson can shoot the ball with ease to the three point line, is a sensational athlete, and is skilled with the dribble. At this point he needs to get tougher, more assertive, and add strength. If he can do that, and that should come with maturity, there is a good chance that Robinson could find himself making money for a long time playing the game of basketball.
Brian Snow: Even though Robinson and his camp have kept things as quiet as possible in the media, his college destination for the last week or so has been pretty clear. Technically it was down to Indiana and Florida, but things have been obvious and he will make his home in the SEC and suit up for the Florida Gators. The Gators have put on the full court press recently and Robinson seems to think they are the best fit for his future. Prediction: Florida
Evan Daniels: For quite some time Devin Robinson's recruitment was tough to figure out. Following his official visits to Florida, Indiana, Oklahoma State and Notre Dame, Florida and IU received most of the buzz. But once he set his decision date, word quickly spread that Robinson was headed to Florida. I believe that word to be true. Prediction: Florida.
