Wilson pledges to Pittsburgh

2015 guard Damon Wilson, who plays his high school ball in New York, but is a native of Georgia, gave an early pledge to Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh scored a commitment from 2015 guard Damon Wilson on Tuesday.

A 6-foot-4 guard out of Centereach (N.Y.) Our Savior New American, Wilson picked Pittsburgh over interest from Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama and Stanford.

"Damon committed to Coach Dixon and the Pitt Panthers late last night," coach Eric Jaklitsch texted Scout.com. "He wanted to play in the best conference in the country in the ACC for one of the best coaches in the country."

According to Jaklitsch, Pittsburgh assistant coach Brandin Knight played a role in Wilson's commitment.

"He will get to play with James Robinson, who will be a senior when he is a freshman, and also learn from former point guard and Big East Player of the Year, coach Brandin Knight," Jaklitsch said.

Wilson is Pittsburgh's first commitment of the 2015 class. He's regarded as a three-star prospect.
