Vaughn schedules UNC visit

Rashad Vaughn, a five-star guard out of Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep, recently took official visits to Iowa State and UNLV. Now he's scheduled a visit to North Carolina.

Five-star guard Rashad Vaughn and North Carolina have settled on an official visit date.

Vaughn, who recently took official visits to Iowa State and UNLV, had a UNC official visit scheduled for September but that was postponed. Now the trip to North Carolina is set for mid-February.

"Feb 15th is when the family is going to take that visit," said Pete Kaffey, Vaughn's mentor and Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep assistant coach.

"I know Roy Williams calls Rashad almost every day," he said. "He talks to his parents a lot. He's telling them they have Theo [Pinson] and Justin [Jackson] and they need someone that can really, really shoot it. He wants him bad."

Vaughn has been by UNLV for unofficial visits a handful of times, but this week he took an official to UNLV with his parents.

"He just did the UNLV visit and that went well," Kaffey said. "It was good. They basically laid out the red carpet. Rashad watched the game against Illinois."

"They have some monster bigs that rebounds well," he added. "They just can't shoot. So he can see himself playing in that system. He had a great time and enjoyed his time. His family enjoyed it too"

Vaughn also visited Iowa State the weekend of November 17th.

"That was amazing too in terms of the atmosphere," Kaffey said. "We were already familiar with Iowa State and we know them. He did that visit. The fans went crazy every second. They kept yelling ‘we want Rashad.'They treated him like a rock star."

North Carolina is the only other school with a visit scheduled.

"Those three are the ones that have every day contact with him," Kaffey said.

To go with UNC, Iowa State and UNLV, Kaffey said Baylor, Minnesota, Kansas and Arizona are also still involved.
