Watson off to a strong start

Things have started off well for Glynn Watson in his junior season.

Four-star point guard Glynn Watson from Westchester (Ill.) St. Joseph's is off to a strong start this season. The class of 2015 floor general is excellent in transition, and now he is looking to round out his skillset.

"The season is going pretty good," said Watson. "We are 5-0 and the team is playing well. So far we have four people averaging double figures so I think it is pretty good."

One area where Watson is definitely looking to improve is with his outside shot, in order to make himself even more difficult to guard.

"I am just trying to expand my game," explained Watson. "People always go under screens against me so I am trying to make them pay by working on my shot."

Recruiting wise a long list of schools are going after Watson.

"I talk to Creighton, Xavier, Nebraska, Iowa, Purdue, Northwestern, Marquette, and a lot of others," noted Watson.

He went on, "The only visit I have made was to Marquette for their Midnight Madness. With our schedule at St. Joe's I just haven't had a chance to make many visits."

The trip to Marquette was a good one, and Watson says he likes what the Golden Eagle program has to offer.

"It was a great atmosphere and I really like the Coach (Buzz) Williams and the staff," said Watson. "Also I like the way they play, and it was just a great experience."

One school that has been on Watson for a while is Purdue, and the Boilermakers are have made him a priority.

"Purdue is a school that has been recruiting me for a long time," explained Watson. "I really like their coaches and I have a good relationship with the staff and players."

A newer school in the mix is Xavier. The Musketeers have begun to really turn up the heat on Watson recently.

"They just want me to come down and visit," said Watson of Xavier. "They are coming to see me play I think on Tuesday so I am looking forward to that."

One school that Watson knows he wants to visit is Iowa, the Hawkeyes have been after Watson for a long time.

"I am going to visit them, and I have watched them a lot on TV and I really like their style of play," said Watson of Iowa.

For now Watson is in no hurry to make a decision, and he plans to make visits and see everything he can before issuing a commitment.
