Jackson makes strong impression

Vance Jackson showed very well on the national stage at the Chicago Elite Classic.

Class of 2016 forward Vance Jackson is now at Bellflower (Cal.) St. John Bosco and he is looking to have a huge sophomore season. Things got going in a big way at the Chicago Elite Classic where Jackson really put on a show.

Playing against Chicago (Ill.) Whitney Young, Jackson and his teammates knew they were in for a big challenge, but they answered the bell and got the win.

"I think we redeemed ourselves after a slow start to the year," said Jackson following the win. "We just have to come out with confidence and play all out with energy."

Jackson was a huge part of the come from behind victory as he got hot in the second half and knocked in five triples.

"Coach was just telling me to keep shooting," noted Jackson. "I started off missing shots, but I knew I had to put more arch in my shot and stay confident and then the shots started to fall."

Recruiting wise things are really picking up for Jackson, and already he has a handful of offers.

"I have offers from Arizona State, Arizona, Connecticut, and Washington," noted Jackson. "Also I am hearing from Kansas, UCLA, USC, Stanford, and some others."

While they have yet to offer, Jackson says he can tell that UCLA is working hard to prioritize him.

"They are close to home and it is just a great tradition of basketball there," said Jackson of the Bruins. "UCLA even though they haven't offered is recruiting me real hard."

While UCLA hasn't offered, the two Arizona schools have, and both the Sun Devils and Wildcats have made an impression.

About Arizona State, Jackson said, "I talk to the head coach, and it seems like they like me a lot. Also I know Jahii Carson from AAU and he is having a great season."

Arizona is currently the No. 1 ranked team in the country, and Jackson says it is great to have that offer.

"I am just blessed and it tells me my hard work is paying off," said Jackson. "I like their tempo on offense and how they play, and I think I could fit in there. I just like it."

While Jackson is currently paying attention to his recruitment, he is also focused on improving his game and getting ready for college.

"I have to work more on my athleticism," said Jackson. "At the next level I have to jump with those guys, so I have to work on that as well as my ball handling."
