Garrett picks up offers

Jeff Garrett, a 6-foot-7 wing, had big game on Wednesday against IMG Academy and picked up three scholarship offers.

In the fall nearly 50 schools stopped by Oldsmar (Fla.) Christian to watch Jordan Fair's team work out.

One player those coaches didn't get to see is 6-foot-7, 210-pound wing Jeff Garrett. Garrett broke his left hand in the fall and was forced to the sidelines.

"We had 47 schools come in during the in the early period and he wasn't able to practice one time," Fair told "He couldn't play and no one got a chance to see him."

Now Garrett, a native of Alabama, is back on the court and his play is stirring up interest.

"He's a high level athlete," Fair said. "Big time athlete. He has really good length. He has good size at 6-7. On my team he plays the one, two, three and four. He handles it really well for a guy his size and passes it well. He needs to continue to work on his jumper."

On Wednesday, up against Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, Garrett scored 22 points with Murray State, South Florida, Georgetown, Oregon State, Duquesne, Marquette and Temple in attendance.

After his impressive outing, Garrett picked up scholarship offers from USF, Oregon State and Murray State.

"It's wide open," Fair said of his recruitment.

Garrett also has scholarship offers from South Alabama, Florida International, UAB and Tulane. Georgia and Alabama have put in calls to Fair about Garrett, but have yet to come see him.
