Big interest in Santos

K.J. Santos has a world of potential, and some high level schools are showing him significant interest.

Illinois native K.J. Santos is a very intriguing prospect in the class of 2016. Now at Saxtons River (VT) Vermont Academy, Santos is one of the most versatile prospects in the class, and despite battling a sprained ankle he is hoping for a big sophomore season.

It is only Santos' first year at Vermont Academy, but so far he has been very happy with the move.

"It is a great experience," said Santos. "I really like the school and the campus and I know we are going to be really good in the future, so it is exciting."

Right now Santos can't play due to injury, but he says he has been working hard to get back, and to show the improvements he has made in his game.

"I've been working on getting stronger," noted Santos. "I have gained weight, and also I have been working on my ball handling and I feel more comfortable playing point guard."

Recruiting wise many of the top schools in the Midwest have either been out to see him in Vermont, or have been staying in close contact with him and his coaches.

"Indiana, Xavier, Purdue, Creighton, Miami, Kansas State, and others have all been calling," noted Santos.

According to Santos the Hoosiers have recently been picking things up with him, and he is hoping to see the school.

"They've been calling my coach a lot, and they say they want to get me on campus for a visit," said Santos.

Also the Xavier Musketeers have been very active recruiting Santos, and he says he talks to them quite often.

"They are talking to me all the time," noted Santos. "I know they really want me, and I plan to take a visit there soon."

For now Santos is in no hurry to make a decision, but he does have a good idea of what will be important to him when it comes time to select a school.

"I am just looking for a place where I can play as a freshman and someone who believes in me and gives me a lot of confidence," said Santos.
