"Yes, I'm definitely taking that and I'm trying to set up a Kentucky visit with their coaches now," Vaughn said.
Roy Williams and two of his assistants met with Vaughn last week.
"It was cool," Vaughn said. "He came down there with coach Hubert [Davis] and coach C.B. McGrath. We just talked and caught up on everything."
What was North Carolina's pitch?
"The group they have coming in and how I can fit in well with them," Vaughn said. "They need a scorer like that and a shooter. He's been pitching that a lot."
Vaughn said what he likes most about UNC is the freedom the coaches give their guards.
"I like them," he said. "I like who they have coming in. From what I've been seeing he's been letting everybody go."
Vaughn, who has already taken official visits to Iowa State and UNLV, doesn't currently have a visit date for Kentucky. He said he's planning to set that soon. Kentucky had faded in his recruitment, but now appears to be firmly back in the mix.
"I've been having a relationship with them," Vauhgn said about the Wildcats.
"It was just an every now and then thing," he said of how UK recruited him in the fall. "They didn't completely stop. He told me that [they did that] since I was going to sign late."
With Vaughn finishing his high school career in Las Vegas, he's become quite familiar with UNLV.
"Coach [Dave] Rice is a good guy, plus coach Todd [Simon]," Vaughn said. "Really their whole staff are good guys. Then they have coach [Stacey] Augmon there, he's a workout guy."
"Then what they have coming in, they have Goodluck [Okonoboh] and he's a shot blocker," he added. "Then they have Dwayne Morgan, I watched him yesterday. I think I could fit in with those guys."
Of the schools involved, Iowa State has been recruiting Vaughn the longest. He's also drawn to how Fred Hoiberg coaches.
"Iowa State, they've been there a lot," Vaughn said. "They are winning. Hoiberg is a great coach. He has a lot of NBA connections. They've been recruiting me since ninth grade."
Vaughn said he doesn't have an intention of setting up a visit to Kansas. He did, however, say he's hoping to come up with his college decision in the next two months.
"Hopefully make my decision February or March or around there," Vaughn said.
"Now I have a relationship with everybody," he added. "It's really just going to come down to where I fit in and where I can just get better."
