At around 6-foot-7 and 210 pounds, Ahmad has the ability to score inside or out. That offensive versatility makes him tough to defend, and Ahmad feels his season is off to a good start.
"I've been playing well," said Ahmad. "I am shooting around 60 percent from two and 50 percent from three. Also I am just trying to get my teammates involved and make sure they are involved in the game. I just want to get my points in the flow of the game."
One thing that has definitely helped Ahmad is a noticeable weight loss from his sophomore to junior season. That is helping Ahmad on both ends of the floor.
"I have probably lost about 10 pounds, but also I added five or 10 pounds of muscle," noted Ahmad. "I am just trying to eat right, workout daily, and it is showing. I definitely feel lighter."
Recruiting wise a long list of schools are showing Ahmad significant attention.
When asked about the Mountaineers, Ahmad said, "They just like my versatility. They are talking about even playing me at the two and they really like my versatility. Coach (Bob) Huggins is a good coach and West Virginia is a good program."
One school that has really picked things up recently is Maryland. The Terrapins offered a short time ago, and Ahmad is in constant communication with their coaches.
"They say the head coach loves me and I like the school," said Ahmad of Maryland. "I am real interested in them. I talk to Coach (Dustin) Clark almost daily. He is a real cool guy."
Another school that offered is Xavier. Ahmad has already made an unofficial to the campus, and the plan is to get back down that way.
"I went on a visit there already and they want to get me down there again," Ahmad said of the Musketeers. "I like their school, it is a nice campus. I'm just trying to see them again."
For now Ahmad is in no hurry to make a college decision, and is focused on his season with Shaker Heights before suiting up with All-Ohio Red during the summer.
