Recruitment expanding for Trice

The recruitment of D'Mitrik Trice continues to heat up as he plays his junior season.

Point guard D'Mitrik Trice is someone with basketball in his blood. The younger brother of Michigan State guard Travis Trice, D'Mitrik is off to a good start this season on the basketball court and is hoping to lead his Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne team to a deep post season run.

After a very strong season on the football field as a quarterback, Trice is back in hoops mode and so far he feels things are going well. A productive weekend at Flyin to the Hoop was good for Trice, and it is an event he always looks forward to.

"I love playing the top competition in the country and the top teams. It makes us better overall players," said Trice.

Recruiting wise Trice has a good mix of schools showing him attention.

"Right now I am getting looks from Ivy League schools like Penn, Brown, and Cornell," noted Trice. "Also I am getting interest from Butler, and almost all of the MAC schools have offered like Toledo, Miami, Kent State, and Akron."

Butler dispatched an assistant to watch Trice at Flyin to the Hoop, and he says the Bulldogs like how he plays.

"They just like how I lead the team," explained Trice of Butler's interest. "Also they like how I defend because they are more of a defensive team. They focus on playing physical and hard, and they like that about me."

One thing Trice has working in his favor is the advice of an older brother who already went through the process. He says that Travis has told him how he should approach the entire recruiting process.

"He just tells me to look for a school where I fit in," said Trice. "He tells me to not only look at the players that play, but the players that don't play and to find a program that fits me."

For now Trice is in no hurry with his recruitment and he plans to play out the spring and summer on the AAU circuit with All-Ohio Red.
