Ramsey In No Rush

Devearl Ramsey, one of the elite point guards in the west for 2015, has a pair of Pac-12 offers so far...

Devearl Ramsey, 5-10 SO PG Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon, is one of the top point guards in the West Coast class of 2016. A terrific athlete, Ramsey has a solid stroke to the stripe and the potential to be a very good defender. He can sometimes play a bit too fast, and needs to learn to change pace sometimes, but he's a very good prospect overall.

I spoke with Ramsey recently and asked him about the schools that are recruiting him.

"Right now I'm hearing from USC and Washington – those two offered me," said Ramsey. "I'm also hearing from Arizona and a lot of the Pac-12 programs."

I asked Ramsey about the factors that will be important to him when choosing a school.

"Style of play, someplace that plays a transition game and just the school that fits me best," said Ramsey. "I'd like to stay near my family. Right now, that's the way I feel, but I don't know how I'll feel in a few years."

Ramsey doesn't see himself making an early decision.

"I think I'll wait it out and weigh my best options," said Ramsey. "I'll probably wait until my senior year."

I asked Ramsey if he has visited any schools unofficially.

"I've visited USC," said Ramsey. "I'm up there a lot getting shots up and stuff. I like it a lot there. Great campus and good people."

Ramsey said he currently has a 2.5 GPA.
