Offers continue to come in for Toye

Wing Joseph Toye plays a big role for La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere, and colleges are taking notice of his strong junior season.

Four-star wing Joseph Toye is having a very solid year at La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere. The Chicago native is in his first year at the prep school, and he is seeing his game grow, and scholarship offers continue to come in.

"I've been playing pretty decent," said Toye. "I have really been working on my defense a lot because I've had to guard a lot of point guards. It has been a good development in my game to be forced to guard every position on the floor."

During the early part of his high school career Toye played mostly inside, but this year he has been solely on the perimeter and has improved in that regard.

"I've gotten a lot better with my perimeter skills and getting to the bucket," explained Toye. "Also I have really been working on being more consistent with my jump shot."

Recruiting wise a few top programs are staying in close contact with Toye, and recently he picked up an SEC offer.

"My latest offer is from Vanderbilt, I have been talking to them a lot. Also I talk to Iowa a lot, Creighton, and a few others," noted Toye.

A good student along with being a good basketball player, hearing from Vanderbilt is big for Toye.

"It is nice to have an offer from Vanderbilt," said Toye. "They are a great academic school with a high level basketball program as well. I talk to their coaches a lot and they seem like great guys."

Iowa is a school that has been after Toye for a long time, and he likes the program as well as the coaches.

"I really like the coaching staff at Iowa," noted Toye. "Coach Fran (McCaffery) and all of the assistant coaches are great. They always tell me what I need to work on to get better, and we have built a good relationship."

Also Creighton has put in a lot of work with Toye, and he is taking notice of their impressive season.

"They have been playing really well this year and they have good team chemistry," said Toye of the Bluejays. "They tell me I could fit in and play right away if I went there."

At the moment Toye is in no hurry to make a choice, but look for academics as well as basketball to play a big role in his decision.
