Recruiting heating up for Thompson

P.J. Thompson is having an excellent senior season, and his recruitment continues to expand.

There is always a need for quality point guard play, and one of the best available in the 2014 class is Indianapolis (Ind.) Brebeuf product P.J. Thompson. The 5-foot-10 senior is having a tremendous season, and is seeing a lot of interest on the recruiting trail.

Thompson had a big game in helping Brebuef top Park Tudor, and he feels it could be a springboard for his team going forward.

"I just feel like for us to get a win like this it gives us a lot of confidence as a team for the latter half of the season," said Thompson.

Even though his season is winding down and recruiting is heating up, Thompson says he is focused more on basketball at the moment.

"I am just trying to focus on the season and finish strong and let recruiting just kind of play out," said Thompson. "I feel that if I keep playing the way I am now and keep getting better that new schools will come in."

He continued, "Ohio and Georgia State were here (Friday), Purdue has been talking to me a lot, Butler is just waiting on my SAT's, Creighton has contacted me a few times, but I am just going to focus on the season and look at recruiting after it is over," noted Thompson.

There has been some talk that Thompson would head to prep school and be a member of the 2015 class, but at the moment he says that isn't in the plans.

"I'm just trying to figure out what will happen on the SAT," explained Thompson. "If I get the score I want I will go play college. I think that is all Purdue and Butler are waiting for. If not I will possibly go to prep school."

For now Thompson says he is focused on getting to the state title game and making waves in the tournament, but there is no doubt that his recruitment is beginning to heat up.
