Davis having a big year

It was a tough weekend for Eric Davis, but he still is getting a ton of college interest and continues to show he is one of the best scorers in the Midwest.

Scoring guard Eric Davis is one of the top wings in the class of 2015. The Saginaw (Mich.) Arthur Hill standout is having an excellent junior season, and recently took a visit and has had some head coaches check in on his progress.

"I think the season is going good," said Davis. "I am having a really good junior year. I am just trying to focus on my all-around game and lead my team to a state championship."

This past weekend was a tough one for Davis and his Arthur Hill teammates. They lost to rival Saginaw High School and then fell in another tough game a day later to Detroit Consortium. Still Davis feels his team is better because of the tough schedule.

"I think this weekend helped get us ready for March," said Davis. "I think the losses helped us wakeup and show us what we need to work on as a team. We have the mindset of winning now and we are all on the same page. Losses are always tough, but I think we are focused now and ready for the state playoffs."

Recruiting wise Davis has kept things on the backburner for the most part, but he still has made a few unofficial visits.

"I went down to NC State to watch them play Missouri, and then I have also been to Michigan when they played Arizona," noted Davis. "I haven't been into recruiting as much during the season. I will focus on that more after the season."

The visit to North Carolina State went well, and Davis says he had a good time and liked what he saw.

"It was a good atmosphere and a real good program," said Davis of NC State. "They have a real good coaching staff and I got to meet their players. It is a basketball school down there and I enjoyed myself a lot. It was a good experience."

Along with taking a visit to Michigan, Davis has been in close contact with Head Coach John Beilein. At the moment Davis doesn't have an offer, but Beilein did come out to see him on Saturday.

"They've picked up their interest a lot," said Davis of the Wolverines. "I have been talking to Coach Beilein almost every other day. Overall I ask him questions about how I can improve my game and things like that. We are just beginning to develop a good relationship and for me that is the biggest thing to develop a good relationship with the head coach."

Also in attendance for Saturday's game was Michigan State boss Tom Izzo. Izzo offered Davis last year, and Davis says he likes the Spartans program.

"I like Michigan State," he said of the Spartans. "Coach Izzo is a good guy. We talk about every week or every two weeks. They are good people up there and Michigan State has a great atmosphere every game."

For now Davis is taking things slowly, but hopes to see more schools on his list after the completion of his high school season.
