2017 Intro: Justin Roberts

Just a freshman, Justin Roberts is already having a major impact for Pike High School.

There is a long history of excellent guards at Indianapolis (Ind.) Pike High School. Players such as Jeff Teague, Marcus Teague, Courtney Lee, R.J. Hunter, and others have come through the school in the past several years, and now another good young guard is on the roster. Class of 2017 prospect Justin Roberts is opening eyes with his play.

At 5-foot-11 Roberts isn't the biggest point guard in the world, but he knows how to run a team and has an excellent feel for the game. Also he is working to be more consistent as a scoring threat.

"The season has been good so far," said Roberts. "I am just working hard every day in practice and getting better every day. This year has been different for me going against guys bigger, quicker, and stronger, so I have had to get better every day and work hard to be just as good as them."

He continued, "I have been working on my jump shot and also on thinking the game. I am not just going out there and playing now, I am understanding what I have to do to be effective."

Recruiting wise Roberts has a lot of interest so far, and has been to numerous schools for unofficial visits.

"I have been to Michigan State several times, Kentucky, Indiana, Xavier, Purdue, and Ohio State so far, and a lot of other colleges are recruiting me," noted Roberts.

It is still early for Roberts, and he is in no hurry to make any kind of decision, but he has been enjoying the early part of the recruiting process.

"It is a good opportunity and it is a blessing," said Roberts. "I get to see things in real life and not just on TV, so you can see things on a higher level."

For now Roberts is focused on finishing out the season strong, and that means a potential long tournament run.

"If we buckle down and do what we are supposed to do I think we have a shot at state," Roberts explained.
