Available combo playing well

Charlie Brown, a 6-foot-1 combo guard, is having a quality senior season and is starting to pick up college interest.

This time of year college coaches are searching for new names and possible available prospects.

One combination guard putting together a strong senior season is Charlie Brown, of Joplin (Mo.) High. Brown is currently averaging 24 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals a game.

"He's combo," Spiece Mo-Kan coach Matt Suther told Scout.com. "He can really score it. He can really shoot it. He has a great mid-range game. He's a good, not a great athlete. Good defender and he's strong."

Playing alongside Tum Tum Nairn and a host of other guards, Brown managed to fly under the radar.

"I just think it was the perfect storm this summer," Suther said. "He's 6-1 or 6-2 and we had a lot of guards."

Suther said a handful of schools have inquired about Brown recently.

"Samford I think will offer soon," he said. "Missouri State wants him to go prep because they don't have one this year. Stephen F. Austin is involved. Wichita State called me last week. UMKC as well.

Brown currently has a visit scheduled to Samford.
