Dillard talks recruiting

Three-star Davon Dillard is hearing from a handful of top schools.

Three-star forward Davon Dillard has emerged as one of the most powerful athletes in the Midwest. The Gary (Ind.) Bowman Academy product has had a very solid junior year, and continues to garner more recruiting attention.

"I started off pretty good this year," said Dillard. "We had an early loss, but after that we got some good wins, and things are still going well."

He continued, "I've been working on my handle, my jump shot, and just trying to be able to play on the wing by passing the ball better and things like that."

Recruiting wise Dillard is hearing from schools like Purdue, Creighton, USC, and Marquette. The school he has had the chance to visit most recently is Purdue.

"The last visit I went on was to the Purdue game against Ohio State," said Dillard. "It was a real good atmosphere. Purdue is a real young team and their bench isn't that deep, but they played hard and it was a fun game."

He continued about the Boilermakers, "Purdue is a good option as far as staying home and maybe being able to play with a friend like Hyron Edwards, that would be good. Also I like their playing style because I think it would fit me well."

While he has visited Purdue several times, Dillard is also hoping to make several other trips before coming to a decision.

"I am hoping to visit Creighton, USC, Marquette, and also I am hoping to see Purdue again," said Dillard.

According to Dillard, Creighton has definitely been paying him particular attention, and he wants to see what the Big East school has to offer.

"I would want to see what Creighton is like as a campus and how I would fit in there," explained Dillard. "I like their coaches and now I would just need to see what everything is like there."

For now Dillard is in no hurry to make a decision, and he expects to play this summer with the SYF Players on the AAU circuit.
