O'Mara On Season

Senior Benet Academy (Ill.) big man Sean O'Mara led his team to a good season, and is headed to Xavier to play his college ball.

Standing 6-foot-8, 220 pounds Benet Academy (Ill.) Sean O'Mara had a big senior season.

He became Benet's all time leading scorer, amassing over 1500 career points in the RedHawks uniform.

"It was really cool, I reached the number against Nazareth," O'Mara said. "It really isn't about the individual goal. As nice as it is to be included with the great players that we have had come through Benet. It's more just the great season we had as well."

O'Mara scored over 500 points this season, recording 1000 in the second game of the season.

"It's all attributed to my teammates," O'Mara said.

O'Mara is heading to Xavier to play his college ball, and has some lessons he learned that will carry onto college.

"When people drive the lane, I don't always get all the blocked shots and stuff. I think the biggest thing, especially in high school is to put your body in the way, that will alter someone's shot," O'Mara said.

O'Mara also took a few minutes to reflect on exactly why he chose Xavier.

"It was a tough decision. I know it was the right decision," O'Mara said. "But just looking at the basketball, academics and everything Xavier had to offer me, it was too much to pass up."
