Cartwright receives release

Kyron Cartwright asked for and received his Letter of Intent from LMU on Tuesday.

With the departure of Max Good at LMU, Compton (Calif.) High guard Kyron Cartwright opted to ask out of his Letter of Intent.

Tuesday evening the 5-foot-11 speedy guard received his release from LMU and officially opened up his recruitment.

"When I committed I wanted to play for those coaches," Cartwright told Scout.com." I asked for the release and they told me they would give me a full release."

Prior to committing to LMU in mid-November, Cartwright had narrowed his list to the Lions and Grand Canyon.

Cartwright is quick and loves to push the tempo and play in transition. He's a good passer with quality vision and is comfortable making mid-range jump shots.

Cartwright cited initial interest from Providence.

"I'll probably make a quicker decision this time," Cartwright said. "I'll take a couple weeks and see who recruits me and make a decision."

"I most likely want to get away," he added. "I just want to leave."

Cartwright is regarded as a three-star prospect on Scout.com.
