"I had a good year," Simonds said. "I play good defense. I bring rebounding and a lot of scoring. I just try to do whatever it takes to win."
At The Elite Preview this past weekend, Simonds carried over his strong from the season and proved to be one of the best sophomore prospects in attendance.
Simonds, who stands 6-foot-3, is a skilled scoring guard. He was aggressive throughout camp with his drives. He made adjusting finishes at the rim and consistently made shots form the mid-range area.
Those very attributes are why high major schools are already showing serious interest in Simonds.
Simonds said Kevin Ollie, Rick Ray and Mark Fox were the head coaches that watched him during the season.
Simonds recently took unofficial visits to Mississippi State and Georgia.
"I loved it," he said about his visit to Georgia. "That was real fun. That was good."
"Georgia, I liked it a lot too," Simonds said. "It's close to home so that's always nice. It was good."
Which schools are currently prioritizing Simonds?
"Mississippi State and Georgia," Simonds said. "They are just showing a lot more attention and things of that nature."
